Consumer Advice - Divorce
DivorceContemplating a divorce or separation can be a very worrying and stressful time. For those involved, there is a great deal at stake and much to consider, such as the children, the family home, money and other property as well as your own future.

If that isn't enough, there is also the question of legal fees and costs associated with a divorce settlement which can often be expensive.

In addition, one has to consider the legal ramifications which may continue some time after any settlement, especially where children are involved

At Legal Advice Helpline, our lawyers may be able to provide you with the information and advice you need to help you through this difficult time.

Our experienced lawyers will advise you through the legal process and help alleviate any pressure or distress to make this process as straightforward as possible for you and all those involved.

What will a divorce cost me?

The cost of a divorce can vary greatly and is dependant on how complicated your case is and whether you and your partner agree about things. Our solicitors will discuss this with you both their fees and any additional costs that may be incurred. You will always be made aware of any fees at the start of your case. As your case progresses, should there be any changes to the fees, this will be discussed with you in detail.

How long does it take

Most divorces can take about six to nine months from filing the petition to the final decree being granted.  However, this can vary depending on how quickly both you and your partner deal with paperwork.

It can often take longer to finalise financial arrangements, but you can get your final decree and be free to remarry without having sorted a financial settlement.
