Brain Injury – Legal Advice Helpline

Personal Injury

If you have a family member that has suffered a brain injury as a result of an accident, it is important to be aware of any legal options for compensation that they may be entitled to. Most importantly, a brain injury requires significant and swift medical attention and you should not delay in seeking treatment for their injury.

In these circumstances, you may want a solicitor to represent them in a claim for compensation following a brain injury. After suffering a brain injury, pursuing a legal claim may be difficult and stressful for them as well their family. Legal Advice Helpline can help make the process easier by referring their claim to an expert solicitor with specialist knowledge of accidents resulting in a brain injury claim.

What is a brain injury?

Although you may expect the worst when you suffer a brain injury, there are different levels of severity. Some brain injuries may result only in brief losses of consciousness and involve a short period of post traumatic amnesia. Alternatively, a brain injury may be much more severe, resulting in a persistent vegetative state in which continuing treatment is required.

Most brain injuries result in a movement in the brain, where the brain shifts forward and backwards, exerting pressure on the skull and causing damage to the frontal lobes and the back of the brain. Other types of brain injury include amnesia, retrograde amnesia or post-concussion syndrome.
